Spiritual Center Offers Fortune-Telling and Spa Services

Tarot card readings, aura cleansing, detoxification treatments and meditation classes now available at Spiritual Guiding Light Healing Center.

Lauren Miller, a Water Mill based “psychic practitioner” opened Spiritual Guiding Light Healing Center in Montauk last month at 640 Montauk Highway, next to the 7-Eleven.

Miller, who has been working as a spiritual advisor to East End residents for over 25 years, said her gift comes from God, but she owes its refinement to her teachers, Christian, Buddhist and Hindu monks, as well as her mother.

Her new center is part fortune-telling parlor, part spa, part ashram. She offers a wide variety of services from tarot card readings, reiki energy healing, aura cleansing, and balancing of the body's seven chakra energy centers.

In particular, Miller is quite proud of her center’s foot detox service, drawing toxins and impurities out of the body through the soles of the feet via a soak and skin rub with a combination of 125 herbs and salts, for a cost of $45. A total body scrub and body mask, which Miller said creates spiritual and physical cleansing, can be performed either at the old fashioned outdoor shower— where buckets of hot water are poured over the client, or in the floating gazebo off the Kirk Park trail next door. This service costs $110.

Additionally, she offers meditation to help clients “reconnect with themselves,” which can be done either in groups or in a one-on-one session. There is no formal schedule for these classes, which can be set whenever a client is available, and there are no set prices as all payment is by offering only.

Yoga classes are also available, but Miller stresses that yoga is a spiritual discipline, “not an exercise.” Her classes focus more on breathing to induce altered states such as mental travel and stress relief than getting a workout, she said. Due to the need for a larger group, the cost for a yoga class, while flexible, is around $15 a person.

Both meditation and yoga classes are held on the floating gazebo next door.  Miller finds that the space is “like something out of a movie,” and encourages her clients to visualize their problems floating away with the water’s flow.
