Woman Charged After Assaulting Someone With Mop Handle: Cops

She's facing a felony charge after the incident; the person struck required 18 stitches, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY β€” An East Hampton woman is facing a felony charge after striking someone with a mop handle, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Ines G. Quito-Romero, 35, was arrested on Jan. 25 in East Hampton and charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, intent to use, a misdemeanor, and second degree assault, intent to cause physical injury with a weapon/instrument, a felony, police said.

Quito-Romero struck someone's face above the right eye with a green-and-white mop handle, "a dangerous instrument," causing a severe laceration, bleeding, significant pain, and an injury requiring 18 stitches, police said.
