Woman Damages Taillight With Snow Shovel, Faces Felony Charge: Police

The woman also violated an order of protection, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton woman is facing a felony charge after she damaged the taillight of a vehicle with a snow shovel, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Katherine L. Helm, 26, was arrested on May 16 at 10:18 p.m. and charged with first degree criminal contempt, violating an order of protection, damage property greater than $250. She was also charged with third degree criminal mischief, damaging another person's property, amount greater than $250, a felony, police said.

Helm allegedly "intentionally damaged the rear brake/taillight" of the vehicle "with a snow shovel," causing estimated damage of $260, police said.

Cash bail was set at $1,000, police said.
