13-Year-Old At Motel Party Had Gun: Nassau Police

Police say the teen was one of nine arrested after an investigation into a missing child led officers to the motel.

Nassau County police arrested nine people -- one of whom had a gun -- after they were called to a motel in East Meadow early Saturday morning.

According to police, an investigation into a missing child led police to the Coliseum Motor Inn, located at 1650 Hempstead Turnpike, at 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning. When officers knocked on the door, police said they found nine people inside who tried to flee the scene. The officers approached at 13-year-old boy who immediately said he had a gun, police said. He was in possession of a silver semi-automatic handgun and a loaded magazine.

The other eight people were all stopped by police near the motel or in the parking lot. Police say that the motel room had not been legally rented to any of them.
