HEMPSTEAD, NY — Police are investigating an attempted killing Saturday in Hempstead, authorities said. Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to a ShotSpotter activation on Polk Avenue, where they found two females with gunshot wounds, according to authorities. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals, with one in critical condition and the other in stable condition, police said. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-4877 or to call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
