3 Officers Injured By Shower Rod-Swinging Woman In Uniondale: Police

The woman, who exposed herself, was "violent and combative while resisting arrest" while three children were in the home, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY — A Uniondale woman was arrested after she exposed herself and assaulted a Nassau police officer Thursday, police said.

Officers were called to a Park Place home for a reported disturbance around 3 a.m., police said.

Lourdje Elien, 25, was exposing herself and screaming, police said. As officers tried to place her into custody, Elien took a shower rod and tried to use it against the officers, police said. Three officers suffered injuries during the arrest as Elien was "violent and combative while resisting arrest," police said.

Officers found three children inside the home who appeared lethargic and upset, police said.

Elien was brought to a local hospital along with the three injured officers and the three children by Nassau County Police Ambulances for assessment and treatment, police said.

Elien was charged with three counts of second-degree assault, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of public lewdness, and one count of resisting arrest.

She will be arraigned when medically practical, police said.
