40 Dogs Seized From Nassau Home With 'Strong Odor'
The elderly resident of the home was hospitalized.

EAST MEADOW, NY - At least 40 dogs were seized from an East Meadow home with a "strong odor" and an elderly resident of the home hospitalized on Thursday afternoon, according to Nassau Police.
Officers responded to the Powers Avenue home for an elderly female aided case at about 3:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered the dogs along with the smell emanating from the residence, police said.

The Nassau County Police HAZMAT Unit was requested by police due to the strong odor.
The Nassau County SPCA and the Town of Hempstead building department were also at scene to remove the animals and condemn the residence as well as the Nassau County Fire Marshal.

The woman was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.
