EAST MEADOW, NY — A 15-year-old boy died Wednesday night after a fight broke out and shots were fired during a barbecue at Field 2 of Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, News 12 Long Island reported.
According to reports, the ‘BBQ’ had been promoted on social media Wednesday with NCPD commissioner Patrick Ryder claiming the shooting was gang related. Two people, Ryder said Wednesday, were arrested with firearms in their possession, per reports.
Police did not identify the 15-year-old boy Wednesday, and declined to comment on the incident to Patch Thursday morning. No ages were given for any of the other individuals involved, although police said attendees at the barbecue included men and women from both Suffolk County and the Bronx. Per News 12’s report, the two individuals who were injured in the shooting were in stable condition after being taken into surgery. The 15-year-old boy was also hospitalized and pronounced dead shortly thereafter, reports said.
Nassau County Parks could not be reached for comment on the incident Thursday morning.
