Mothers, clinics scramble as temporary closure of NUMC's maternity wing continues, providers say (newsday.com) — Expectant parents in East Meadow are facing longer trips and more uncertainty as Nassau University Medical Center’s maternity unit remains temporarily closed, diverting births to hospitals more than 30 minutes away. Providers serving low-income and immigrant women say the pause is disrupting birth plans, raising transportation and record-transfer problems, and highlighting ongoing political and financial turmoil around NUMC’s future.
3. Celebrating the dedication of East Meadow's PTAs (liherald.com) — East Meadow’s PTAs and district leaders recently gathered at Fox Hollow to honor the volunteers and staff who keep local schools thriving. Representatives from every East Meadow school lit candles and celebrated Founders Day, highlighting the dedication that supports students in East Meadow and neighboring Salisbury throughout the year.
