• EPIC Long Island opens new Bethpage center (libn.com) — EPIC Long Island, based in East Meadow, has opened a new Bethpage center that expands its vocational training and support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The facility includes an indoor garden created with Smile Farms, giving participants hands-on experience growing and preparing produce while building job skills, confidence, and independence.
   

• Resident seriously injured in Valley Stream house fire (newsday.com) — A Valley Stream house fire early Thursday left one resident seriously injured and taken to Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment. About 65 firefighters from several nearby departments brought the blaze under control in 45 minutes, and investigators are still working to determine the cause.
