β’ Nassau County honors the volunteer firefighters lost on 9/11 with new tribute (liherald.com) β A new 9/11 firefighters memorial is being built in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, replacing an aging tribute that honors Nassau County volunteer firefighters lost on and after Sept. 11. The redesigned stone monument will list dozens of fallen members and is expected to be completed in September, reinforcing the county's promise to remember their sacrifice for generations.
