• 2 Romanian Nationals Arrested After Nassau Necklace Scam: PD (patch.com) — Residents in East Meadow are being warned after police linked two Romanian nationals, arrested in Valley Stream, to a series of necklace theft scams that also targeted victims in East Meadow and Franklin Square. The suspects allegedly distracted elderly women with requests for directions and hugs, then swapped out their real gold jewelry for fake pieces. Anyone who believes they were targeted is urged to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers.
