Children Helping Children: The Brownies Doing Something Sweet

The Brownies come together to help others.

Brownie Troops # 1266 and # 1674, met at the East Meadow Public Library today, Monday, November 12.  Why did they come together?  To package sweet treats for children displaced by Hurricane Sandy and the Nor'easter.

What a wonderful example of adult leaders taking a tragedy and making it a valuable learning moment for their charges.  While the Brownies are understanding that others might need their help, they are also finding a normalcy again after the storms.  The girls are enjoying themselves, feel a sense of importance, and love helping others.  In addition, patrons visiting the library are also coming away with something -- that there are people who care.
