A Family Program

The award-winning Amateur Observers Society is presenting a series of 4 family workshops in preparation of Curiosity’s landing on Mars.

NASA’s newest rover will be able to photograph, test, and travel Mars like no other research vehicle previously sent. Curiosity was launched on Saturday, November 25, 2011 and is due to land on Mars about August 5 - 9, 2012.

The first three workshops will concentrate on the atmosphere, geology, and water on Mars.  What would we need to put a settlement on Mars?  How do you pack for a 9 month flight in space?   The last workshop will celebrate Curiosity’s landing and will build a model settlement out of found materials.  Registration for the workshops begins on Thursday, July 5 by calling 794-2570 ext. 560 or online at eastmeadow.info.

August date is subject to change due to Curiosity's landing day.
