Jose Reyes Is Not Lebron James (we hope)
Will the Mets be the next Cleveland Cavaliers?

On July 8 of last year, the nation was held hostage by the Lebron James dubious "decision." This off season Jose Reyes will have a similar choice to make.
Both players, when fully healthy, are one of the top players in their sport that can take their team on their shoulders and change any game into a victory. Both of the players came to star level by the teams that drafted them and have become part of the fabric of their town and the team's history.
Both players pulled their team out of mediocrity to championship contenders and have been surrounded by controversy for their style of play. We can only hope that is where the similarities end.

Lebron James took his talents to south beach and set the Cleveland Cavs franchise back years going from conference finalist to basement dwellers. If Jose Reyes leaves the Mets in the state the team is already in, it will crush the team’s future for years to come and be the final straw to many Met fans who are already close to giving up.
As sports fans, we have to admit that professional sports are a business. But in reality...they are and players will usually make what is the best business decision for them. Lebron James didn’t need the money, he was going to make a boat load wherever he went. What he wanted the most was a championship and as easy as possible.

What does Jose Reyes want most? Only he and his agents know that. What we do know is that he has said he loves New York, loves the fans and wants to stay here, but will he?
Sandy Alderson has publicly said that it is unlikely he will trade Reyes and his top priority is to lock him up long term but with the current financial status of the team he may not be able to offer him the most money. So will Reyes take a hometown deal like Troy Tulowiski or Joe Mauer and bring the Mets back to championship level for the second time or will he chase the money and run?
That is going to be his "decision" this fall.
