There is a new place for the unemployed and underemployed to meet

The LIBC was a successful jobs club for those over 40 looking for others in the same situation and come up with ways to overcome limits of getting hired. The new LIBC JC continues and improves on it.

Do you remember the Long Island Breakfast Club?  Fortunately, the co-founder Chris Fidis has replaced it with a new club based on some of the same principles and some very new ones. The LIBC Jobs Club is an offshoot of that has branched out on its own.  The first meeting took place in early January at the West Hempstead Public Library. While the attendance was small it showed promise that the club could grow.  Chris Fidis, one of the co-founders; Allen Levy, a former member of Long Island Breakfast Club and now founding member; and
Elsie Negrin, who was a founding member of Long Island Breakfast Club now
living in Florida. Elise was in attendance by Skype. Internet meetings are one
of LIBC Jobs Club (LIBC JC) avenues being explored as a way to attract members
to meetings. While the club looks to keep with most of the founding principles
that launched the original Long Island Breakfast Club they are looking to differentiate themselves and bring joblessness, support and personal re-invention the main goals.

Many services are available to those looking for work but little is known how to get access and use the services to get the retraining to get that new job.  Those already working are encouraged to attend meetings as a way to support those less fortunate.  The hardest part of moving forward in your job search is known as getting out of the driveway or out the front door.  This is something many of us
face when things are down;  the front door feels like a safety barrier and is something that hinders many from going to the next step.  Getting together in a
public place is one of best places to gather when looking for work or speaking
with someone about being unemployed.  I look forward to attending monthly meetings in public surroundings organized by the LIBC JC to discuss issues and possible solutions facing those unemployed  and seeking to reinvent them self to find that new job in 2013 and beyond.
