Comedy Show Brings Laughs to Library

Comedians Bernie Fursh and Jessica Kirson entertained East Meadow residents on Sunday.

Stand-up comedians Jessica Kirson and Bernie Fursh brought their act to the East Meadow Public Library on Sunday. Both had the audience doubled over with laughter with well thought out jokes and impressions of aging grandparents.

"They were both so funny," said one woman after the show. "They were both very quick and had really good material."

Fursh did impressions of his parents nagging at him and Kirson imitated numerous people she encounters on a daily basis.

She also played to the audience of about a hundred or so people giving them a good natured ribbing. "Is your husband still awake?" she asked one woman. "I mean if a younger guy was drooling like that I might be flattered but he looks like he's ready for bed."

"We do a lot of old style Jewish comedy," said Furschpan, who uses the stage name Bernie Fursch. "It's general comedy with a lot of Jewish references peppered in."

Furshpan recently retired from his chiropractic business to become a full time comedian. "As a chiropractor I was cracking up people in a horizontal position. Now, as a stand-up comic I'm cracking them up in a sitting position."

Kirson has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and various other shows such as 'Last Comic Standing' and 'Last Call With Carson Daly."

Furshpan and Kirson are regularly scheduled acts at both the Brokerage and Governor's Comedy clubs on Long Island.
