Customer Hurt During Armed Robbery at East Meadow Store

The incident occurred Monday afternoon. Employees and customers were tied up in back room, police say.

Two employees and two customers at a women’s clothing store in East Meadow were tied up during an armed robbery Monday afternoon and one of the customers was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The robbery occurred at Mandee, located at 1976 Hempstead Turnpike in the East Meadow Plaza shopping center around 3:35 p.m, police said.

According to police, a man entered the store and demanded cash from two female employees while displaying a black handgun.

After the employees complied, the man ordered the employees and two female customers–ages 59 and 57–into a back room, tied their hands together and forced them to lie on the floor, police said.

The robber then fled on foot out the front door in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The 57-year-old customer was transported to a local hospital and treated for a right hand abrasion and chest discomfort, police said.

The robber was described as 6-foot, 25-35 years old, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.
