DA: Man Found Guilty in Fatal Shooting in Front of Church
Uniondale man shot another man four times and fled to Florida, reports stated.

A Uniondale man was found guilty Tuesday in a 2013 shooting in front of a church, according to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.
Jonathan Mack, 20, was found guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after a 10-day bench trial in front of Judge Gorge Peck, said the DA.
Mack faces 25 years to life in prison and is due to be sentenced Oct. 8.

At 10:30 a.m. on June 30, 2013, Mack got into an argument with a woman on Hill Street in Uniondale, said the DA. During the argument, Isaac Andrews, 34, of Uniondale, approached Mack, who pulled out a handgun and shot Andrews three times, said the DA.
As Andrews fell, Mack fired a fourth shot that struck Andrews in the upper back, said the DA. Andrews was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center but died of his injuries.

Mack fled the scene and was found three weeks later hiding in his brother’s apartment in Florida, according to Newsday.
“This defendant cruelly ended the life of a young man in a shocking display of violence in broad daylight, with church services taking place nearby,” said NCDA Kathleen Rice. “This case is a reminder that the scourge of gun violence plaguing our communities can occur at any place, at any time, and requires a united effort by prosecutors and law enforcement to keep our neighborhoods safe.”
