Drunken Truck Driver Hits Overpass In Nassau: State Police

Police say he ran into the overpass and kept going. Troopers found the truck nearby and arrested the driver.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A truck driver was arrested Sunday night after police say he drunkenly drove his truck into an overpass.

According to New York State Police, a call came in around 10:40 p.m. for a tractor-trailer hitting the Hempstead Turnpike overpass while heading south on the Wantagh State Parkway.

A state trooper found debris on the shoulder of the road, but the truck had left. The trooper searched the area and found the truck on Hempstead Turnpike.

Police say the driver— Brent Granville, 29, of Lithonia, Georgia — was drunk at the time of the crash. The truck was towed.

Granville was arrested and charged with DWI, and was issued an appearance ticket to First District Court in Hemsptead. He is due back in court on March 18.
