East Meadow Welcomes New Assistant Superintendent

David Casamento will serve as the district's new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

The East Meadow Board of Education unanimously appointed David Casamento as the district’s assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Casamento returns to East Meadow as a continuance of a 27-year educational career that began in the district as an AP chemistry/biology and chemistry teacher at W.T. Clarke High School in 1990, a position he held until 2005.

Casamento was most recently the director of science and technology for the East Williston Union Free School District, a post he held for seven years. He was responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the science, technology and instructional technology teaching staff, as well as curriculum alignment and development, professional development and establishing a technology vision for the district. Prior to that, he served as director of science and instructional technology in the Huntington School District, and was the director of science for the North Babylon Union Free School District.

“On behalf of the entire Board of Education, I welcome Mr. Casamento back to the East Meadow School District,” said Board of Education President Marcee Rubinstein. “His knowledge and extensive background compliments our district’s offerings in the fields of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. I am confident that his contributions will help us further advance in these areas, as well.”

Casamento officially begins his position with the district on July 17.

"It is with great excitement that I am being afforded the opportunity to return to the East Meadow School District as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction,” he said. “It was a sad day when I left my science teaching position at W.T. Clarke High School, so coming back makes me feel as though I've truly come full circle professionally. I look forward to working with all of the students, staff and community members who made me feel welcome 27 years ago and who I look forward to partnering with once again. East Meadow is a place of great opportunity, and I know that together, we will continue to build upon the district's successes and programs for the education of all students."
