Food Network Star To Visit Stew Leonard's

Alex Guarnaschelli will be signing copies of her new book at the popular supermarket.

Food Network star Alex Guarnaschelli will be signing copies of her latest cookbook, "The Home Cook: Recipes to Know by Heart," at Stew Leonard's in East Meadow on Oct. 5.

Whether it’s a Monday-night supper or a weekend dinner party, The Home Cook provides an entire repertoire for every occasion and every flavor profile. The new generation of home cooks who were raised on vibrant, international flavors and supermarkets stocked with miso paste, harissa, and other bold condiments and ingredients will have a new go-to resource for everything from simple vinaigrettes and roast chicken to birthday cake and cocktails. Novices and seasoned home cooks alike will be encouraged to explore new grains, to seek out and enjoy under-the-radar cuts of meat, and learn how to tackle cooking fish at home.

Guarnaschelli is the daughter of cookbook editor Maria Guarnaschelli. She spent much of her youth surrounded by food and cookbooks, immersed in whatever new recipes her mother was testing. After training at La Varenne Culinary School in Burgundy, France, Guarnaschelli moved to Paris and worked at Guy Savoy for four years before returning to New York to cook at Daniel. Since 2003, she has been the executive chef at Butter Restaurant. She appears on numerous Food Network shows, including as a judge on "Chopped" and "Beat Bobby Flay" and as an Iron Chef on "Iron Chef America."
