Long Island Girls Soccer Coach Raped 16-Year-Old Player: Police

Police said 35-year-old Sean Johnsen had sex with one of his players on two occasions in August.

WESTBURY, NY — Nassau County police arrested a girls soccer coach accused of having sex with one of his players on two occasions in August, authorities announced Thursday.

Sean Johnsen, 35, of Fletcher Avenue in Valley Stream, was charged with two counts of rape. Police said Johnsen had inappropriate contact with the 16-year-old player Aug. 17 and Aug. 21.

Johnsen is charged with two counts of third-degree rape, two counts of committing a third-degree criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child. He's scheduled to be arraigned later Friday.

The players on Johnsen's team range in age from 14 to 19 years old, police said.

Authorities said anyone who has information about this incident, or who thinks they have been a victim of a similar crime, to call Nassau County police at 516-573-4022. All callers will remain anonymous.
