Heroes Among Us, the Westbury-based charity that helps Long Island veterans and their families, will be holding its fifth annual Charity Gala on May 3, and tickets are on sale now.

The gala will be held at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville. The gala this year will honor Gold Star Families. Heroes Among Us will be remembering the four New York National Guard members from the 106th Rescue Wing who died when their helicopter crashed in Iraq on March 15, 2018: Master Sgt. Christopher Raguso, Maj. Christopher “Tripp” Zanetis, Staff Sgt. Dashan Briggs and Maj. Andreas O’Keeffe. Becky Christmas, president of American Gold Star Mother, Inc., will be the keynote speaker.

Proceeds from the evening will help provide veterans and their families assistance through the programs offered by Heroes Among Us. “We will keep honoring our veterans each year by
recognizing their dedication to our great nation,” said Virginia Cervasio, founder and board
chair. “We are grateful for their service and for our freedom”
