Man Attacks Hospital Staff In East Meadow: Police
He swung a wheelchair foot rest at a male nurse and then injured a female nurse's knee, police say.
EAST MEADOW, NY — A man was arrested after Nassau police said he attacked hospital staff in East Meadow on Sunday.
Vincent Petrillo, 55, was being treated as a patient at Nassau University Medical Center when he became violent with hospital staff and swung a wheel chair foot rest at a 68-year-old male nurse, causing an injury to his right hand, at 1:10 p.m., police said. As hospital staff were trying to restrain Petrillo, a 60-year-old female physician suffered an injury to her right knee, police said.
Officers arrested Petrillo without further incident, police said.

Petrillo was charged with three counts of second-degree assault. He will be arraigned at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead when medically practical.
