Nassau Store Owner Locks Burglar Inside Gate Until Police Arrive: Cops

The man had burglarized the store seven times before, police say.

EAST MEADOW, NY - An East Meadow man was arrested on Monday morning for burglarizing an East Meadow business after the store's owner locked the gates and detained him until police arrived, according to Nassau Police.

Officers responded to Meadow Dairy on 395 East Meadow Avenue for a burglary in progress at about 5:30 a.m.

Upon their arrival they were informed by the owner that when he opened the front gate he discovered 49-year-old Scott W. Cisler, was inside, police said.

The owner locked the gate and detained Cisler inside until police arrived.

The officers placed him under arrest without incident.

During the investigation it was determined that Cisler had entered the Meadow Dairy on seven previous occasions through an unlocked side door while the owner opened the front gate, and removed scratch off lottery tickets, police said.

Cisler is charged with eight counts of third degree burglary, police said.

He will be arraigned on Tuesday.
