Man Falsely Reported Robbery In East Meadow: Police
The man was arrested after police said he lied about being carjacked and assaulted.
EAST MEADOW, NY — A man was arrested Friday after Nassau police said he lied about being robbed in East Meadow last month.
Enrique Hurtado Mazada, 59, of Hicksville, falsely reported to police that he had been the victim of a robbery at 3 a.m. Feb. 26, police said. Mazada claimed he was carjacked and assaulted by two people he did not know, and that he lost his vehicle and suffered several injuries, police said.
Mazada "completely fabricated his claim," police said after detectives investigated. Mazada was arrested in East Meadow, police said.

He was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false statement. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
