Man Flees Twice After Robbing East Meadow Convenience Store: Police

The man was caught later at his home in East Meadow where he was arrested, police say.

EAST MEADOW, NY - An East Meadow man was arrested for robbing an East Meadow convenience store early Thursday morning, according to Nassau Police.

Steven M. Hodish, 31, entered the 7-Eleven store on 391 East Meadow Avenue, and stole 3 packs of cigarettes at about 1:30 a.m., police said.

He left the store and was chased by a store employee, police said. A physical altercation ensued between the two.

Hodish was able to flee on foot, police said.

A few minutes later, officers on patrol saw Hodish running and tried to stop him but he fled, police said.

Officers then saw him enter his home on 7th Street and lock the door behind him.

A short time later, Hodish came out of his home and was placed under arrest without incident, police said.

He was charged with third degree robbery. He will be arraigned on Thursday.
