Man Kicked Nurse Who Was Treating Him In East Meadow: Police

EAST MEADOW, NY — An East Meadow man who attacked a nurse was arrested Sunday night, Nassau police said.

A registered nurse, 35, was taking care of Fidel Velasquez, 36, of East Meadow, when he became combative and kicked her multiple times in her right arm around 11 p.m. at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, police said. The nurse suffered substantial pain and minor bruising to her arm, police said. She was treated by hospital staff.

Velasquez was arrested without further incident and charged with second-degree assault. He will be arraigned when medically practical, police said.
