Man With Loaded Gun Injures 2 Officers In Nassau: Police
The man shoved an officer to the ground, and a second officer was injured while trying to arrest the man, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY — A Hempstead man with a loaded gun was arrested after he assaulted a Nassau officer on Tuesday in Uniondale, police said. Two officers total were injured during the man's arrest, police said.
David Schenck, 30, was walking in a parking lot behind Nassau Road where numerous businesses were closed and vehicles were parked, said police, which called Schenck's behavior suspicious.
"The area has been known for numerous burglary and vehicle thefts," police said.

When officers tried to speak with Schenck, he pushed an officer to the ground and ran off, police said. The officer suffered contusions and cuts on his left shoulder and arm, police said.
As officers tried to arrest Schenck, a second officer suffered injuries during the arrest, as police said Schenck was violent and combative while resisting arrest.

A loaded 9 mm pistol was found on Schenck, police said.
Schenck and the two injured officers were all brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Schenck was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
Schenck's arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
