Man Shoves Employee In 7-Eleven Robbery: Nassau Police

The employee was injured when a man stole a cigarette lighter and shoved him to the ground, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY — A man was charged with robbery after Nassau police said he shoved a 7-Eleven employee to the ground early Monday in Uniondale.

William Alston, 42, of Hempstead, walked into 7-Eleven, at 644 Jerusalem Avenue, at 2 a.m., went behind the counter and took a cigarette lighter, police said. Alston tried to leave the store without paying and shoved a 49-year-old employee to the ground, injuring the left side of the employee's face, police said.

Alston was arrested without further incident, police said. He was charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree assault.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
