Police: Man Robbed, Tried to Sexually Assault Woman in E. Garden City
Woman was walking in a parking lot on Stewart Avenue when she was approached, cops said.

A man robbed and tried to sexually assault a woman walking in a parking lot in East Garden City, according to Nassau County Police.
Special Victims detectives said the victim was walking in a parking lot near Stewart Avenue and Selfridge Avenue when a man approached her from behind. The man tore the jewelry she was wearing off of her before trying to sexually assault her, cops said.
The subject ran from the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

The incident happened at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, cops said.

A Nassau County ambulance brought the victim to a nearby hospital where she was treated for minor injuries before being released, cops said.
The subject was described as a black man, between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot, medium build, and was wearing black pants and black shoes.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
