Road Closures Announced Ahead Of This Weekend's LI Marathon
The race starts and finishes at Eisenhower Park on Sunday.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Runners are making final preparations for this weekend's Long Island Marathon, and Nassau County police are as well.
The 26.2-mile race kicks off at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, at Eisenhower Park, and drivers should be aware of the various road closures leading up to and during the event.
- Charles Lindbergh Boulevard will shut from 7 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Earl Ovington Boulevard will close from 7 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Merrick Avenue (from Hempstead Turnpike to Stewart Avenue/Park Boulevard) will shut from 7 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Park Boulevard (at the Hempstead Turnpike entrance) will be blocked off from 6:30 - 9 a.m.
- Park Boulevard (at the Merrick Avenue entrance) will be closed from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Police said roads listed may be closed earlier, or remain shut longer.

Other closures to note:
The Meadowbrook Parkway exits for Nassau Coliseum, Nassau Community College and Eisenhower Park will be closed to traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The eastbound exit at Stewart Avenue on the Meadowbrook will also shut down from 7 a.m to 1:30 p.m.
Among the security measures at the race:
- Emergency Services and other units will have portable radiation detectors.
- All runners must bring personal belongings in clear, plastic bags. Bags will be subject to K-9 explosive detection.
- All vehicles at the starting line must be credentialed.
