EAST MEADOW, NY - Stew Leonard’s, the farm fresh food grocer, announced on Thursday that it will be opening its second Long Island location in East Meadow.

“We are thrilled to welcome Stew Leonard’s as our newest tenant,” owners Geoff and Charles Serota of the Serota Organization said in a joint statement. “The East Meadow Mall will begin renovations, including a de-malling process, to create an open, first-class and exceptionally unique retail space for our shoppers.”

The new Stew Leonard’s store, which will be the chain’s sixth location in New York and Connecticut, will be 70,000 square feet and located on Front Street, just off of Hempstead Turnpike.

Earlier this month, Stew Leonard’s opened its first Long Island store in Farmingdale’s Airport Plaza on Route 110.

The family-owned and operated store was founded as a dairy store in 1969 in Norwalk, Connecticut.

“Our family is very excited. We were thrilled with our store opening in Farmingdale and it encouraged us to expand on Long Island. We have had a warm reception from the town officials,” said Stew Leonard, Jr., president and CEO of Stew Leonard’s.
