Torch-Wielding Man Breaks Into East Meadow Burger King

EAST MEADOW, NY - A man used a torch to break into a Burger King in East Meadow Tuesday morning, but the burglar left empty-handed, police said.

Nassau Police and the East Meadow Fire Department responded to the Burger King located at 2450 Hempstead Turnpike around 6:07 a.m.

An investigation revealed that a man used a torch to gain entry through the rear door of the restaurant, which was closed at the time. Once inside, the man tried to break into a safe by using the torch, police said.

The fire caused alarms in the restaurant to sound. The man fled the scene with no proceeds. There is no description of the burglar at this time, police said.
