Uniondale High School Student Creates New Social Media App

A Uniondale School District’s High School student recently created a new social media app called Ideayet. High School senior, Kermitt Mitchell III, started programing in 2014 and with the help of his brother, they have created this new app. Ideayet is an upcoming social media platform with equity crowdfunding components where users can get paid for posting and sharing ideas, and where users can view all of their ideas in one central location. This site is a social media platform that promotes creativity, and aims to make social media a more productive experience.

“We are always encouraging out students to be creative and think out of the box. Kermitt has taken the innovative to go above and beyond, he really owns his creativity and intelligence. These are values we hope to instill in all of our students” said Dr. William K. Lloyd, Uniondale School District Superintendent.

Kermitt built the website completely from scratch. He didn’t use any templates such as WordPress or applications like it. In 2014 Kermitt starting coding with HTML and since then, he has learned more languages, including CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PHP, and Java, and is currently learning C# for Windows and Unity applications.

Ideayet was selected to be at TechDayHQ, an event where many startups from across the country come to show off their startup. The Ideayet startup team consist of the co-founders Brandon Mittchel and Kermitt Mitchell III, the CMO Menelik Pascal and the designer Molly Lundgren. Each of them value creativity and knowledge and aspire for Ideayet to become one of the best resources for connecting the thinkers, shakers, and luminaries.

“As educators, our goal is to provide students with the tools and resources to excel in anything they want to do,” said Uniondale High School Principal Dr. Florence Simmons. “Kermitt is a wonderful example of what you can accomplish if you put your mind to it.”
