EAST MEADOW, NY — A woman was killed when her car crashed into a pole in East Meadow, police said. The victim, 78, was driving a 2012 Ford SUV that left the roadway just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and struck a tree on 3rd Street at Hempstead Turnpike, police said. She was pronounced dead a short time later at an area hospital.No other injuries were reported. Police are investigating.
