Woodland Middle School Music Ensemble Denied Showcase Opportunity
Woodland Middle School

The 8th grade music students at Woodland Middle School, who traditionally have participated in the Trills and Thrills event http://www.trillsandthrills.com/festivals/2017/six-flags-great-adventure/ , this year are not being afforded this opportunity. There are plenty of open slots to perform so space is not the issue. Not quite sure what is the issue, but parents are getting the run around. I have attached the alternative, the memo that was sent to Clarke Middle School and what we have received as an explanation as to why Woodland Middle School students are not participating in this program. Many contacted administration when the March 1st letter came and we were told that Mr. Campo (superintendent) Ms. Behr (Director of Music and Art), and Mr. Lethbridge (Principal of Woodland Middle School) are still discussing “our” concerns.(See attached memos.)Many would not be as outraged and upset over this, but Clarke Middle School (the other middle school in the East Meadow School district) is going to showcase their talents at a Trills and Thrills event. There have been rumors that a decision was already made and administration will not afford our talented music students to participate in this event. Many want to know why and none of us are getting answers. Can you help to find out why 8th grade Woodland Music Students are being excluded from The Trills and Thrills program?
