A student and staff member each tested positive for the coronavirus, the district said Tuesday. The school will remain open Wednesday.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A student and a staff member of Farmingdale High School tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced Tuesday.
Contact tracing has been completed, and all families and staff members who were directly exposed were notified and will begin their quarantines, Superintendent Paul Defendini told the community in a letter.
The building is "safe" for faculty and students to return to in-person instruction on Wednesday, Defendini said. The high school's custodial team will perform extra rounds of disinfecting and sanitation in the affected areas on top of its regular regimen.
