2 LI Men Arrested After Assault, 2 Cops Injured: Police
A disturbance occurred on Main Street in Farmingdale on Saturday, police say.
FARMINGDALE, NY — Two men have been arrested after an assault occurred on Main Street in Farmingdale early Saturday morning, police said. Two police officers were injured during the course of the arrest, police said.
Nassau County police said patrol officers saw a disturbance of several people in front of the X Bar Lounge and Restaurant– the officers intervened, causing all parties to disperse.
After a short time, 24-year-old Niquan Joiner, of East Patchogue, and 23-year-old Devlin Samuels, of Wyandanch, returned to the scene and began to act erratically at approximately 4 a.m., NCPD said.

Police said they attempted to stop the two men who got into a blue Nissan Murano.
Joiner put the car in drive and accelerated while officers attempted to remove Samuels from the passenger side of the car, police said.

One officer was dragged several feet before being released from the vehicle, police said.
Police stopped the car in the vicinity of Melville Road and Main Street, police said.
NCPD said both officers sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for their injuries.
Joiner and Samuels were charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, police said.
Joiner was additionally charged with reckless driving and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, NCPD said. They were both arraigned on Saturday in Hempstead, police said.
