2nd Annual Farmingdale Medieval History Day Event Info
Farmingdale is invited to partake in the June 8 event that will feature fighting, dancing and arts and crafts with a middle-age vibe.

FARMINGDALE, NY--The 2nd annual Farmingdale Medieval History Day! is set for Saturday, June 8, Farmingdale Village announced. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Village Green at 361 Main St.
The event will feature The Canton of Lions End from medieval-recreation group the Crown Province of Østgarðr. People who attend will get to experience fighters and fencers, dancing and arts and crafts with a medieval vibe. The Canton of Lions End will don middle ages-inspired garb from different centuries while performing and demonstrating their skills.
"Being of Viking descent myself, I’m intrigued," Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand said via press release.

The fighters and fencers will showcase their skills while wearing armor. The tournament's participants will choose a child from the crowd to champion. Token prizes will be given to the winners of the tournament.
Artistans of all kinds will display their work and provide children and their parents hands-on time to explore their crafts. You can learn how to write in Medieval fashion, as well as what Calligraphy is like. Embroidery and glass bead-making skills will be taught. People can play the same games that were played hundreds of years ago. Merchants will also be selling Middle Age-oriented items, like handmade soap.

The event is free and intended for all ages. The rain date is June 9.
