3 LI Men Arrested After Illegal Gambling Devices And Prescription Medications Found: PD

Police said they found them at two Farmingdale delis.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Three men were arrested after officers found illegal gambling devices and various prescription medications at two delis on Wednesday night, police said.

Nassau County police said they conducted a quality-of-life initiative at 7:15 p.m. strategic response team officers responded to Gutierrez Deli and W Grocery Deli, both on Conklin Street, police said.

Officers found that both establishments had illegal gambling devices and prescription medications displayed for sale, which are believed to be from South America, NCPD said. According to police, both locations were locked and secured.

Jorge Alejandro Pena Rodriguez, 56, of Lindenhurst, Nicolas Gutierrez, 57, of Syosset, and Venancio Espinal Frias, 58, of Lindenhurst, were all charged with third-degree criminal diversion of prescription medication, second-degree promoting gambling, and possession of gambling devices and govern licensee: on premise disorderly gambling (did not have proper licensing and documentation to have those machines), NCPD said.

They were issued appearance tickets returnable to the First District Court on Feb. 19, police said.
