3 People In Hospital After Box Truck Collision In East Farmingdale: PD

A 25-year-old Copiague man is being treated for serious injuries, police say.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY — A 25-year-old man was seriously injured after striking a box truck in East Farmingdale Thursday morning, police said.

Suffolk County police said Jose Garcia-Morales of Copiague was driving a 2012 Nissan Frontier southbound on Broadhollow Road at about 5:50 a.m. when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2014 Hino box truck stopped at the light at Michael Avenue.

He was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for serious injuries, and the passenger in the car, Noe Reyes-Ramirez, 21, of Copiague, was taken for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the box truck, 48-year-old James Gordon, of Rockville Centre, was taken to the same hospital for non-life-threatening injuries as well, police said

According to police, the Nissan was impounded for a safety check and the box truck received a safety check at the scene by motor Carrier Safety Section officers.
