6 Men Tried To Lure Girl Into Car in Farmingdale
A group of six men tried to lure a Howitt Middle School girl into their car, but the student's parent screamed out to scare them off.

FARMINGDALE, NY–Six men approached a girl who goes to Weldon E. Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale and tried to lure her into their car, per a letter from the school to parents.
The men, in a late model black Hyundai Elantra with no hub caps, drove up to the girl at the Louis and Phillip Drive bus stop around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The driver was described as being bald and wearing an orange shirt. The men in the car opened the door to try and bring the girl into the vehicle. The girl's mother screamed out, which resulted in the car speeding away.
The mother reported the incident to the Nassau County Police Department, and then to the school's administration.

Luis A. Pena, the school's principal, encouraged in his letter that parents periodically review safety concerns with their children. Some tips he provided are to tell kids that it's okay to tell a stranger "no" and get away from them if they feel scared or uncomfortable, never talk to or accept gifts from strangers, that grown-ups shouldn't be asking children for directions and to never approach a car or accept a ride from the stranger(s) in it.
