FARMINGDALE, NY — The grand opening of the expansion of Ellsworth Allen Park in Farmingdale was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony, the Town of Oyster Bay announced Wednesday.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino joined with his colleagues on the Town Board, including Councilman Joe Muscarella and Councilman Steve Labriola, to celebrate the expansion that was two years in the making.

The expansion includes new softball and baseball fields, a t-ball field, a multi-purpose field for various sports activities, a pedestrian/bicycle pathway, restroom facilities and a parking area.

"This community was promised a new park nearly two decades ago when the Town obtained the former Liberty Industrial Finishing site adjacent to Allen Park," Saladino stated via press release. "When I first took office, we promised that we would get this project done. Today we demonstrate how we keep our promises, as we unveil this beautiful recreational facility to our residents."

Muscarella, who has been involved in the progress at the Liberty Site from the beginning, said, "This project is long overdue and a dream come true for most residents in Farmingdale and the Town of Oyster Bay. I was proud to lead the fight for environmental cleanup of the property, and I look forward to joining with residents in celebrating the expansion of Ellsworth Allen Town Park when complete."
