75 Firefighters Race To Farmingdale House Fire, 4 People Forced From Home: FD

FARMINGDALE, NY — Four people have been forced from their home, and one firefighter was evaluated for possible heat exhaustion after a house fire on Wednesday night in Farmingdale, fire marshals said.

The Point Lookout-Lido Fire Department was returning from Fire School in Bethpage when they discovered the fire on Merrit Road at 9:29 p.m., the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

Approximately 75 firefighters were on scene and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes, fire marshals said.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and no other injuries were reported, according to fire marshals.

The Farmingdale Fire Department received mutual aid assistance from Point Lookout-Lido, Amityville, North Amityville, Hicksville, Bethpage, and East Farmingdale fire departments – all under command of Farmingdale Chief Tortoso, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, the NCFM Investigators and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
