• Men Finish 11th, Women 15th at Adelphi Panthers XC Invite (farmingdalesports.com) — Farmingdale sports fans can celebrate as Farmingdale State College's cross country teams opened their 2026 season close to home at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, with the men finishing 11th and the women 15th against a strong multi-division field. Several freshmen and local Long Island runners posted solid debut performances, setting the tone for upcoming meets.
• Long Island's summer extends into fall as businesses keep bustling beyond Labor Day (newsday.com) — Farmingdale residents can look forward to an extended summer vibe, with Mayor Ralph Ekstrand encouraging visitors to keep coming downtown and Oktoberfest set for Sept. 19. Across Long Island, warmer September weather is keeping beaches, marinas, and restaurants busy well past Labor Day, giving local businesses a much-needed late-season boost.
