Car On Fire On Farmingdale LIRR Tracks, Port Washington Man Arrested: PD

Police say they observed a car on fire on the train tracks early Tuesday morning.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A Port Washington man was arrested after a car was on fire on the Farmingdale LIRR tracks early Tuesday morning, police said.

Nassau County police said the incident occurred at 1:15 a.m. at the Farmingdale Long Island Railroad Station on Melville Road and South Front Street. Officers responded and observed a white Subaru car on fire on the tracks, police said.

The driver was found in proximity to the car on fire, and after an investigation, Jorge Ferrer Hidalgo, 29, was placed under arrest, NCPD said.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Hidalgo was charged with three counts of driving while intoxicated, police said. He was arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead, NCPD said.
