Everyone Late To Work Because LIRR
BREAKING: Third rail damage in an East River tunnel is causing all sorts of problems on the railroad this morning.

Long Island Rail Road commuters are dealing with delays, cancellations and diversions Wednesday morning. The railroad is blaming third rail damage in one of Amtrak's East River tunnels.
Commuters, who pay a king's ransom for a monthly LIRR pass, don't particularly care that Amtrak owns the tunnels that connect Penn Station to Queens. They just want to get to work on time.
NYC Transit is cross-honoring LIRR tickets on the E train at Jamaica, Kew Gardens and Forest Hills; Atlantic and 34th St. for the 2/3 train; on the 7 train at Woodside.

Until @Amtrak and @LIRR have a real plan to overhaul the tunnels, this will continue to happen or worse. This is a major safety hazard. We cannot pretend that Sandy didn’t dump millions of gallons of salt water into the tunnels. Current plan is to wait until 2024. UNACCEPTABLE https://t.co/4AsBB8pLfG

@LIRR this is just really really sad. I cannot use the excuse I’m late to work because my train is cancelled or delayed any longer because I’m literally using it EVERY DAY!
