LIRR Service Suspended On 4 Branches After Poles Fall On Tracks
BREAKING: Service is suspended on four LIRR branches and there are delays on all the others Friday evening.

UPDATE 8:30 p.m.: Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and West Hempstead service remains suspended until further notice. The LIRR is currently operating hourly shuttle service between Penn and Mineola, making stops at Jamaica, New Hyde Park, and Merillon Avenue.

Friday's nor'easter is causing headaches for Long Island Rail Road commuters trying to get home to start the weekend.
A fallen utility pole across the tracks in Westbury has suspended service in both directions on the Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches, the LIRR said on its Twitter account at 5:21 p.m.

Service on the West Hempstead Branch is also suspended because of a fallen utility pole across the tracks west of Malverne Station.
Commuters are being urged to use alternate branches, such as Port Washington, Hempstead or Babylon.

"LIRR personnel are working to restore service as soon as possible," the tweet said. "We apologize for the inconvenience. "
